Underling

Working with a team of 6 talented artists, we created a 15-20 minute playable demo.

The player embodies a little crock and must work hard to complete the days chores. Make your way to become Minion of the week by getting the highest score!

On this project I was our sole programmer and tech lead. Additionally, I was our primary sprint lead leading three out of four sprints.

My tasks as a tech lead included programming all major events, interactions, and systems including scoring, day cycles, and fail states. For this project we used Perforce (P4V) to host our repository and manage version control. I was on call for anyone who needed additional help working in engine. or trouble shoot Perforce.

As sprint lead I communicated closely with art and design team leads to make sure the function and vision of our game was consistent and coherent. In conjunction with the design lead I also built out our production schedule in 10-14 day periods, and assigned our team members tasks.

The Cave of Pygo Sidae

Over the course of this solo project I develop a detailed art bible and final project that has a fully rigged character, character animations, and interactive cutscenes.

The focus for the project was the look of the environment and character, so the interactions themselves are limited to one decision you make to reveal one of two animations.

AR “Mental Narrative”

Over the course of this project, I took aspects of my life regarding my experience as an adopted Chinese American, and portrayed this experience through architecture.

Upstairs represents my upbringing and assimilation into American culture through media and education.

In the basement is where I feel as though I “stored away” parts of my racial and cultural identity. Aspects of who I was had to be rediscovered through second hand research.

This short film was developed over the course of a year alongside 2 other 2D animators. This short utilized toon shaders to create a hybrid short film where all the backgrounds are 3D, but all the animation is 2D.

This is what our original sketches looked like while we were layout out what the story of our short film would be. A number of these shots remained the same; however, we removed part of the original concept where the main character, bailey, imagined a series of “worse case scenarios” when asking out love interest, Jane.
